What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing and has been part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for thousands of years. Traditional acupuncture treats the whole person, body and mind. Not just the symptoms. The principle of Acupuncture is the balance of Yin and Yang. These two opposite and inter-dependent forces regulate and stimulate the body’s function for optimum wellbeing and good health. An imbalance of Yin and Yang can cause illness and fatigue. Qi (vital energy) is considered to be the other essential element in the healing system of TCM.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine sterile disposable needles just beneath the surface of the skin, into specific acupuncture points along the body’s meridians (energy channels). This ancient technique stimulates vital points and clears blockages in the meridians to improve the flow of Qi; it also improves blood flow throughout the body and restores the balance of Yin and Yang.
